Preventive care is planned healthcare intended to reduce selected risks, detect some problems earlier, and support informed choices before urgent symptoms dominate. It may include vaccinations, screening, counseling, medication review, developmental or age-related assessment, and follow-up based on individual history.
Its value comes from matching an action to the right person at the right interval. Too little can miss useful opportunities; indiscriminate testing can create false alarms, incidental findings, burden, and unnecessary follow-up. Preventive care is risk-based, not a contest to maximize tests.
